Valve has released the latest update for their popular first-person shooter, Counter-Strike. Operation: Broken Fang brings about new challenges, retakes, maps, an operation stats page and more.
'New challenges await with the all-new Retakes and the exclusive Broken Fang Premier. Play new maps across a variety of game modes and see how you measure up in the Operation Stats page. Complete weekly missions and choose from a variety of rewards including new agents, weapon collections, stickers, patches, and graffiti,' the official post from Valve reads.
Valve is also adding a series of changes to maps in CS:GO's Jan. 7 patch, updating and fixing Ancient, Cache, Engage, and guard. Here's the full list of changes. Here's the full list of changes.
A new map titled Ancient has been released for defusal. The map resembles Aztec in aesthetic but certainly not design as the new map brings a whole new look in terms of strategy. In addition to the new competitive map, five more community maps have been added.
Players can now provide pings and chat commands via a fully-customizable chat wheel built into the game. A system that many modern day games have been adding has finally made its way to the veteran title and should be welcomed with open arms.
Another huge addition to the game is the ability to review your accounts stats within the game itself. 'With your Operation Pass, you'll have access to detailed statistics from a variety of categories. Your statistics are tracked automatically and can be viewed on the Operation Stats page.'
Valve has also added retakes to their own servers allowing three Ts to defend a planted bomb while four CTs attempt to retake. 'Choose a loadout card at the beginning of each round and retake (or defend) the bomb site. The first to 8 rounds wins!'

Valve has released a new Dec. 4 Update for the CS:GO which brings a number of important bug fixes. This patch comes a day after the initial Dec. 3 Update that launched the new Operation Broken Fang in Counter-Strike: Global Offensive. Here are the patch notes for the Counter-Strike: GO Dec. 4 Update that is rolling out right now to users worldwide:
- Fixed names for several Operation Broken Fang patches to appear as different Steam Community Market commodities.
- Fixed Sir Bloody Darryl's death sound.
- Fixed a regression with soft shadows under agents.
- Fixed demo playback for the compatibility version of Mirage.
- Added 'Looking to Play: Guardian' for people looking to play Guardian and Strike missions with a partner.
- Fixed mini-scoreboard alignment when showing player counts.
- Removed vote to change map in Retakes.
- Reduced round restart delay to 5 seconds in Retakes.
- Fixed ping icons to show actual pinged weapon or bomb in all game modes.
- Fixed ping icons to become transparent when player's crosshair pointing directly at them.
